1. Adoption Fee

The adoption fee is a tax-deductible donation applied towards the costs incurred by St. Gertrude Rescue for the care of the kitty. Your adoption fee donation allows for St. Gertrude Rescue to continue rescuing stray and shelter felines in hopes of finding them a forever family. The adoption fee is due at the time of finalizing this contract.

2. Trial Period

There is a 7-day trial period with all adoptions for the acclimation of the kitty to members of the family, including other pets in the home. The adoption fee is refundable (less a $25 non-refundable deposit) if I, the adopter, return the kitty in the same condition in which it was adopted and all associated paperwork, including veterinarian records, microchip registration, and rabies tag, within this period.

3. Surrenders

There is no guarantee St. Gertrude Rescue will accept a returned kitty after the trial period has ended. Any returns outside the trial period are subject to volunteer foster availability and the kitty being current on all vetting. Proof of the feline's vetting will be required prior to St. Gertrude Rescue accepting the feline back into their care.

4. Health/Behavior

It is understood St. Gertrude Rescue makes every effort to provide an accurate history and assessment of the feline's health, behavior, and temperament. However, I understand St. Gertrude Rescue does not provide a guarantee or warranty on any felines. I acknowledge it takes several months for a feline's personality to develop. The environment provided is a factor in the development of a feline's health and personality. Environments not conducive to felines may result in health and behavioral issues not present while in foster care. It is further understood and agreed upon that physical changes, such as declawing, changes in diet, and/or environmental changes, may affect the temperament and behavior of the feline.

5. Commitment

I am making a commitment to provide a loving, safe home, and proper care and medical treatment for the life of the feline. This includes, but is not limited to, appropriate nutrition, suitable litterbox conditions, adequate opportunities to play/climb/scratch, annual veterinarian exams and vaccinations, proper licensing each year, and adherence to any federal, state, and local laws or ordinances pertaining to the feline.

6. Social Media

I consent to allowing St. Gertrude Rescue to post photos of the adopted kitty and/or adopting family to their website and social media.

I have read, understood, and agree to abide by the Terms and Conditions listed above. I acknowledge the information provided is true and correct. I acknowledge this agreement is binding between myself and St. Gertrude Rescue, also abbreviated as SGR, and any misrepresentations or violations may result in the removal of the adopted feline(s) from my possession. Should legal counsel be required for the execution of this contract, I agree to reimburse St. Gertrude Rescue in full for legal expenses.
