Teresa
DOB: 3/1/25
OK, get ready, because this is an extremely sad story. Teresa came to St. Gertrude Rescue through a citizen who was concerned that she was very sick. She had been trying to catch Teresa for over 8 months, but Teresa always ran away. When she was finally caught, it was because she was extremely sick and malnourished. She came to SGR just skin and bones. While in rescue, her recovery has been very slow, she has constant diarrhea and has struggled to put on weight. Although she is feral, she is simply too weak to act on her feral instincts to run and hide from humans. She knows she needs us and we are here for her. While in the love and protection of SGR, Teresa enjoys watching her fish TV, eating good food, drinking clean water, and getting brushed daily. She is also getting the medical care she needs to hopefully return to full health soon. Teresa is about a year old and fully litter box trained.
Here’s where things get interesting: Teresa is a Red Siamese, which in itself is unique. BUT, Teresa is also completely deaf! We can’t imagine how she survived in the wild, without being able to hear danger or a predator approaching. Because of this, we gave Teresa a box to snuggle in so she had all three sides of her protected at all times and she can see when others approach. This has made all the difference for her and we immediately saw improvement in her personality. Stay tuned to learn more about her recovery!
